A Trip to Jiuzhaigou Nature Reserve

Here's a collection of photos I took during my trip to Jiuzhaigou Nature Reserve in Sichuan China in late Autumn 2016.

Jiuzhaigou (九寨沟 Jiǔzhàigōu) is a nature reserve in the north of Sichuan province in central China. It is officially known as Jiuzhai Valley in English. It is known as the habitat of giant pandas (although it is extremely rare to ever see a panda in the park) and mainly for its many multi-level waterfalls and colorful lakes. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. It belongs to the category V (Protected Landscape) in the IUCN system of protected area categorization.

All photos were taken with Nikon D70s on Tamron 17-35mm, except all 3 panorama shots were taken with iPhone 6 Plus. All photos were post-processed in Photoshop CS6 and all panoramas in Snapseed.

Any Comments? Wanna find someone to go with?

Are you a photographer?
MartinBoon 2017-04-23 18:31:55
Reply Samm:Hi Samm, I'm just an avid photographer based in Singapore. It was my first trip to Jiuzhaigou Nature Reserve. I saw your photos of Jiuzhaigou too. They are beautifully captured. :)

Reply MartinBoon:Hi Martin, it's really a long journey from Singapore to Jiuzhaigou. Jiuzhaigou is really really beautiful! What's your next stop? Have you been back to Singapore?

Reply Samm:Hi Samm, I visited Jiuzhaigou in late October last year and yes I'm back in my homeland, Singapore. I took a direct flight from Singapore Changi Airport to Henan XinZheng International Airport with TigerAir. From there my Chinese friend and I took an internal direct flight to Jiuhuang Airport and then boarded a traveling coach to Jiuzhaigou town. It was a small travel package organized by one of Henan tour agencies.

Reply AvatayahWalker:You should visit this beautiful awesome place in the coming September or early October. Best time to visit! But be mindful that it's the peak season and it would be super crowded.

Reply AlexanderLee:Hi Lee, just a little feedback on this website. It'd be better for Hi China Travel to allow foreign travellers to upload higher quality images so as to showcase their beautiful travel photos with as many people around the world as possible. The image resolution is quite bad and kind of pixelated. I know the concern of file sizes and slow uploading speed and of course the server's limited capacity. I hope in future HCT can upgrades and improves on this part. Thank you.

Reply MartinBoon:Haha, I should thank you for taking so many beautiful photos. Good luck!

Reply MartinBoon:Hi Martin, I HAVE ALSO suffered from this haha, since I've taken lots of pics but this website seems to zipped these (for a faster network maybe?) so we strongly suggesting.... HCT get a better server please, wanna donate from us?lol

It's an amazing attraction. And the foods there are great!

Reply MartinBoon:Hi Martin, so you have been to Zhenzhou, Henan first? In that way, I guess you didn't miss the great Longmen Grottoes. And how much is the travel package? Is it available for a single foreigner?
AvatayahWalker 2017-05-16 11:20:14
Reply MartinBoon:sure! actually I've watched film called "Hero" and it is said to be shot in this place, I wanna take a look when I am on my vacation.
MartinBoon 2017-05-20 15:31:38
Reply Samm:Well I missed the great Longmen Grottoes as I didn't stayed long enough in Zhengzhou, Henan. Regarding the Jiuzhaigou travel package, I wasn't too sure as my Henan friend helped to book from their local travel agency. It cost a little more for foreign travellers. Best to tag along one or two local Chinese friends to enquire more info.

Reply AvatayahWalker:Yes I've watched that movie too directed by Zhang Yimou. That sword fighting scene in the movie was taken in Joizhaigou, Sichuan, where the 2 characters were sword fighting, played by Jet Li and Tony Leung. You should travel there and see for yourself. :)
Samm 2017-05-23 17:45:36
Reply MartinBoon:Well, thanks. Still it's nice to have a chinese friend to help booking. And you can try Longmen Grottoes next time. :D

Reply MartinBoon:sure! well there're 10 years before I retired, and I will got at least 10 years for me to travel la :)
